Houseplants

Chlorophytum cosmosum

I am very proud of this spider plant. It was a gift from my brother who rescued it from being thrown away at a grocery store. It was such a sad, neglected little plant and I fell in love with it immediately. I planted it in a nice pot, put that pot into a bird cage, and hung that birdcage in a south-facing window so it could get plenty of light and be out of reach of my plant-killing cat. It quickly began to thrive and eventually started flourishing. It was such an exciting moment to check on it every morning as the flowers started blooming. Several babies started growing from the flowering shoot, which are propagating in water on a shelf above my desk as I write this.

Syngonium podophyllum 'White Butterfly'

This Syngonium was one of my first houseplants, and certainly my first one to do well and not just die right away. My mom got it as a gift from her knee surgeon. It started out as two little leaves in a coffee cup and now it's the biggest houseplant I have. I had no idea what I was doing when we first got it, but it managed to outgrow it's little cup and we re-potted it into a larger pot, which it eventually also outgrew. I put it into the large red pot that it's in currently and eventually made a DIY support for it and let it grow nice and tall. I'm so proud of how well it's grown. Unfortunately I'm pretty certain it's very root bound in this pot and I'm struggling to keep up with watering it. Leaves are starting to die and fall off and it just doesn't look as lush and vibrant as it used to. My plan for it is to cut it up, propagate all of the cuttings, and start again. I'm hopeful that I can get it to grow even better this time around and have an even more impressive plant. I'm both excited and quite nervous for this project but whatever happens, I'm sure it'll be a better outcome than just letting it slowly die away.

BTW, I named him Charles :) It's the only plant I've given a name lol

Succulents

I'm honestly not a fan of succulents, but I have a few. I personally prefer leafier plants, and the way that succulents grow is unappealing to me. Sometimes they look pretty, especially in close-up pictures like this one.
